POSTECH Professor Joseph Jeon Receives Young Researcher Award at CICS 2025
Professor Joseph Jeon of the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH has been selected as the recipient of the Young Researcher Award at the 2025 Conference on Information and Control Systems (CICS), jointly hosted by the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE) and the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers (IEIE).
The Young Researcher Award is presented to early-career scholars who have demonstrated exceptional research excellence in the fields of information and control. Professor Jeon was recognized for his leading contributions to semantic communication and AI/ML-driven next-generation wireless technologies, which have significantly advanced both academic understanding and practical applications in the discipline.
CICS 2025 was held from October 22 to 25 at the Del Pino Resort in Sokcho. During the conference, Professor Jeon delivered an invited talk titled “Semantic Communication: Meaning-Centric Information Transmission Technologies and Applications,” where he introduced recent breakthroughs and explored future directions in this emerging research area.
