Kim Sang-yoon, a Computer Science & Engineering student, won the grand prize at the 2025 Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition.

Sangyoon Kim, a student in the Computer Science & Engineering (Academic Affairs (Undergraduate & Graduate) ’19, CEO of Snapscale Inc.), won the grand prize at the ‘2025 Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition,’ the largest private startup competition in Korea, hosted by the Asan Nanum Foundation on Wednesday, October 29.

‘Simula.ai’, presented by Snapscale Inc. at this competition, is a manufacturing-specific generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) solution that automates the complex process design process of EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) companies.

This solution was highly evaluated for its ability to simultaneously achieve work efficiency and cost reduction by proposing optimal process designs based on large-scale design data and minimizing errors through Simulation.

After verifying the idea and concretizing the business model, the company’s technological prowess was verified through programs linked with large corporations such as ‘POSCO IMP’ and ‘Hyundai Motor Zero One’, and it is currently conducting full-scale business operations at the on-campus ‘Change Up Ground’.

CEO Kim Sang-yoon said, “I was able to overcome numerous obstacles in the startup process thanks to the step-by-step program provided by the university,” and added, “I am grateful to POSTECH for providing the optimal environment for growth at every stage, from idea discovery to commercialization.”

Meanwhile, this achievement is being evaluated as a success story of POSTECH’s full-cycle startup support program, which covers everything from idea generation to commercialization and incorporation.
